Bayrock Group opened Trump SoHo together with the Trump Organization and the Sapir Organization in the year 2008. Bayrock Group’s success began in Kazakhstan several decades before.

Tevfik Ariff, a Turkish-born native of Soviet Kazakhstan, founded Bayrock Group.

Tevfik Arif received an undergraduate degree in International Relations from the Moscow Trade and Economic Institute before becoming a member of the Soviet Ministry of Commerce and Trade.

He was within the ministry for 17 years before left to establish several of his own companies. Tevfik Arif had several businesses that included high-end real estate development, food, and exports or imports.

Due to his numerous companies, Tevfik Arif acquired a wide array of worldwide partners. It was his networker, and led his company to Turkey in 1993 and became one of the first to be behind Turkey’s all-inclusive hotel concept.

For instance, he launched Antalya’s Labada Hotel, before he began his next venture across Atlantic after a few years.

Bayrock Group grows more ambitious

Tevfik Alif emigrated to the United States to seek new business opportunities, and to be closer to his American family in 2001.

After moving to New York, he founded the luxurious real estate development company Bayrock Group in New York City.

Bayrock Group started out with small-to-medium-sized jobs located in New York. Bayrock Group redesigned Loehmann’s Seaport Plaza, Brooklyn’s shopping district.

Tevfik Arif Bayrock Group was off to great start and it led to Tevfik Arif becoming ever more determined. He wanted bigger projects and altered the approach of the company to make it more focused.

Bayrock Group moved its New York City headquarters to Trump Tower Fifth Avenue in support of the strategic shift.

Trump SoHo finally takes shape

Bayrock Group was inspired by the Trump Organization’s vision to create luxury real estate properties, and they decided to collaborate.

Bayrock Group was already working with the Sapir Organization on another undertaking in Manhattan’s SoHo Quarter, which is located on Spring Street.

Tevfik Arif knew the Trump Organization’s involvement in this project could give the building an identity which Bayrock Group or the Sapir Organization didn’t have.

Tevfik Arif Tevfik Arif Doyen Arif wrote an agreement that gives the Trump Organization 18% equity and the right to utilize the Trump name in exchange.

All three parties to the agreement, Bayrock Group and Trump Organization were in agreement.

This was the start of Trump SoHo’s 2006 construction.

After two years of hard work the building was finished and waiting for its inauguration.

Trump SoHo construction is led by experts in design

Trump SoHo opened in Manhattan and included apartments, hotel rooms as well as luxury restaurants and bars. There was also a swimming pool, spa and banquet halls. From the building’s floor–to-ceiling windows hotel guests were able to take in breathtaking views of New York City.

Handel Architects was tasked to design the building. The architectural firm previously developed the famous National September 11th Memorial & Museum (New York City) and the Ritz Carlton Washington Hotel (D.C.).

Bayrock Group hired Rockwell Group to manage the interior design.
